Termites are insects that feed on wood, frequently becoming pests of homes. They are known as "silent destroyers" because of their ability to chew through wood, flooring and even wallpaper undetected. The presence of termites indoors generally means professional treatment is needed to prevent damage to the home or structure.

There are several hundred species of termites, divided into two main groups: subterranean and drywood termites. Subterranean termites are by far the most common type in India and around the world. These termites build their nests in the ground and travel up to the surface to find food. They typically feed on wood, but can also damage paper, books, insulation, and even swimming pool liners.
